Draper, Utah, January 19, 2009 – GlobalSim, the world leader in simulation training systems for the crane and material handling equipment industry recently delivered a customized MasterLift™ 4000 (ML4000) Advanced Crane Training Simulation System to Shanghai Maritime University (SMU) in China.
SMU’s new ML4000™ allows simulated training on two crane models, a Ship-to-Shore Crane and a Rubber Tyred Gantry Crane. With a multi-channel dome visual configuration and 3 Degrees of Freedom motion system, the simulator provides the most realistic and immersive training experience available.
“Simulation provides the ability for operators to perform comprehensive training when live equipment isn’t available,” says Clyde M. Stauffer IV, Vice President of Business Development for GlobalSim. “It also reduces overall training time and the cost of taking live equipment off-line for training. Our clients have seen a dramatic increase in the productivity and confidence of new operators.”
SMU is a multi-discipline university with 6 fields of study: Engineering, Management, Economics, Literature, Science and Law. For decades, SMU has been devoted to fostering qualified talents for the shipping industry. SMU has provided shipping enterprises, public institutions and government departments with over 40,000 graduates.
"Although our simulators are being used throughout the world, this is our first project in China," says Scott Huntsman, President of GlobalSim. "We are very excited to be working with SMU to improve the efficiency of their training programs by adding simulation."
Over the past 6 years, GlobalSim has delivered over 120 crane and Material Handling Equipment (MHE) training simulators to a wide variety of international customers. GlobalSim offers a wide range of trainer configurations including portable, mid-size, and full-sized training systems.
