OCHA ORDERS ADDITIONAL SIMULATOR AND UPGRADES

Draper, Utah, December 8, 2008 – GlobalSim, the world leader in simulation training systems for the crane and material handling equipment industry, received an order this week from OCHA, the training arm of the Antwerp Port Authority for a new MasterLiftTM6000 (ML6000) Crane Training Simulator. In addition, OCHA requested upgrades to their existing ML4000 and ML5000 Simulators.

OCHA offers specialist training for crane and material handling equipment operators. The Centre has a permanent staff of instructors who are former dock workers who have a wealth of professional knowledge and hands-on experience which they pass on to trainees. OCHA offers four types of courses: basic training, specialist courses, courses aimed at a particular industry and courses for particular companies. In addition, they offer seminars for people from other ports, enabling them to acquire the “Antwerp know-how” in modern port operations.

In 2006, OCHA purchased two simulators from GlobalSim; an ML4000 fully reconfigurable immersive training system with crane models for a Ship-to-Shore Gantry Crane and a Mobile Harbour Crane, and an ML5000 Straddle Carrier Simulator. These two simulators will now be upgraded with GlobalSim’s newest software and hardware architecture including improved visuals, vehicle performance, collision modeling and scene interaction. The projection system in the existing ML4000 will be replaced with a unique nine-screen video display wall. The ML5000 will receive new projectors and LCD displays.

In addition, OCHA ordered a new fully reconfigurable ML6000 Simulator which combines the features and functionality of the ML4000 and ML5000. The ML6000 for OCHA will include models for a Ship-to-Shore Crane, a Mobile Harbour Crane and a Straddle Carrier. The new ML6000 has nine visual channels and a six degree of freedom motion system.

GlobalSim offers a wide range of trainer configurations including portable, mid-size, and full-sized reconfigurable systems. Depending on the customer's specific needs, GlobalSim can deliver a new simulator within 180 days. By leveraging cutting-edge technologies, GlobalSim has successfully developed extremely advanced systems that are considerably more affordable than previous solutions.
