GlobalSim awarded several new maritime simulator contracts
Salt Lake City, Utah - February 4, 2006
GlobalSim, the world leader in simulation training systems for the crane and material handling market, today announced the award of several new contracts for the purchase of MasterLift 4000 and MasterLif 5000 advanced training simulators for both crane and straddle carrier operations.
The Port of Marseille, France has ordered a MasterLift 4000 Crane Training System with five different crane models. A MasterLift 5000 Straddle Carrier Training System has been ordered by GMP to train straddle carrier operators at the Port of Le Havre, France. In addition, New York Shipping Association (NYSA) has ordered a MasterLift 4000 Crane Training System and MasterLift 5000 Straddle Carrier Training System.
The Marseille system includes a Gottwald mobile jib harbor crane model that can be configured with a container spreader, hook, or clamshell bucket for container, general, or bulk cargo operations. This new model also was recently delivered to the Port of Antwerp for integration into their MasterLift 4000 Crane Training System. In addition to the Gottwald crane model, other models delivered with the Marseille simulator include a Regianne dock gantry container crane, Kone dock gantry container crane, Paceco dock gantry container crane and a Potain boom-jib crane. The simulator is configured with a 6 Degree-of-Freedom motion platform for realistic, operational motion cueing and a 22-foot dome that provides a fully immersive visual experience with a 220° horizontal by 150° vertical field-of-view. The Marseille training system represents the most sophisticated and dynamic training simulator ever produced for port training applications and includes several new highly detailed software features such as super-post-panamax and bulk cargo ships, liquid loads, bulk cargo with fully functional clamshell and hopper, full dynamic model on all ships and loads, and an enhanced scenario generation tool compatible across all MasterLift crane models.
The NYSA simulators will both be housed in customized over-the road trailers enabling NYSA to bring training to each of its five terminals in the NY/NJ port area. This represents the first and only mobile straddle carrier simulator in the world. The NYSA system will also include the worlds first ever SimFusion architecture wherein the ML4000 and the ML5000 simulators are networked together enabling a straddle carrier student-operator to interact with a dock-gantry student operator in a simulated environment.
"GlobalSim has been leading the industry with advanced commercial simulation products for many years. said Scott Huntsman, President of GlobalSim. As with our full line of maritime simulators, we are very pleased to bring additional sophisticated training tools to the maritime industry." GlobalSim offers outstanding and affordable simulators for an ever-expanding collection of cranes and material handling equipment. Our engineering team continues to develop the most comprehensive range of simulator-based training products available today, with more crane models and material handling simulator products to be announced in the near future.
World-class Training Experience
MasterLift simulators feature the most advanced technology available for simulator products. The training systems offer a fully integrated operators cab and instructors console. The operator is surrounded with a visual and audio environment composed of multiple high fidelity, 3D images fully synchronized for maximum visual effect. This complete visual and aural environment is placed on a full-range motion base to provide all the cues necessary for effective and realistic training. GlobalSims innovative software architecture creates a training environment that can be easily and affordably customized to match both the customers current operations and
future requirements as needs evolve.
With the MasterLift product line, we've used the same techniques and capabilities pioneered in the most advanced aviation training simulators, said Joe Frazier, chief architect and software engineering manager at GlobalSim. Our primary objective is to provide the trainee with an experience as close as possible to what they would find in the real equipment.
Comprehensive Simulator-based Training Spectrum
GlobalSim offers a wide range of trainer configurations including portable,mid-size, and fully configured systems. This flexibility enables our students to get the most effective training capability for the best price, said Bill Elburn, training director for the U.S. Army Transportation School. The different simulator configurations has given our student operators the ability to take a crawl, walk, run approach to training by moving from
performing simple operations in a controlled environment to mastering complex operator tasks without the risk of injury to the student or damage to equipment. We use portable systems to teach the basics and fully integrated systems to train operators on the more advanced skills.
Training simulators provide a good training avenue for both the apprentice as well as the seasoned journeyperson, said Steve Brown director of training for the International Union of Operating Engineers.
The new product configurations we are currently manufacturing give
our customers the largest variety of advanced crane and material handling
training simulators in the world, said Clyde Stauffer, vice president
of new business for the MasterLift product line at GlobalSim.
Immediate Availability All MasterLift simulator products have been
priced for affordability and are available now. Depending on the customers specific needs, GlobalSim can deliver a new simulator within 120 days.
By leveraging cutting-edge technologies, GlobalSim has successfully
developed extremely advanced systems that are significantly more affordable than previous solutions.
