GlobalSim Installs Custom Crane Simulators for US Army

July 12, 2021

GlobalSim recently completed a project for US Army that included the installation of multiple crane simulators at a training complex in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.

“Our team has been hard at work on this project for several months” says GlobalSim CEO Jonathan McCurdy. “We partnered with the crane manufacturer – the result is an incredibly accurate simulator that mimics the real life equipment in almost every way.”

Each simulator is designed to model the Type II Heavy Crane.  The system includes controls and panels sourced directly from the OEM and a 3 DOF motion platform.  A short video featuring the new crane simulators has been published on YouTube:

“The focus is on realism” remarks Tony Morrill, GlobalSim’s Art Director who was heavily involved in the project.  “Because of that we can simulate faults and other kind of issues that you would never want to try in the real world. We want to put (the students) in the crane, without actually putting them in the crane.”
