GlobalSim Completes Battle Stations 21 Simulator Upgrade

GlobalSim Completes Battle Stations

GlobalSim is pleased to announce it has recently completed a major system upgrade for the Battle Stations 21 complex located in Great Lakes, Illinois. Battle Stations 21 is a live immersive training simulation for the U.S. Navy designed as the final test for naval recruits. The 12-hour evaluation program includes 17 ship board scenarios, from a flooding scenario to a missile attack and a mass casualty drill. Battle Stations 21 is conducted at night, on board the USS Trayer (BST 21), a 210-foot-long Arleigh Burke-class destroyer simulator. Each recruit in the U.S. Navy experiences the simulation before completing their basic training.

“The Battle Stations 21 project is something we’re very proud of” remarks GlobalSim President Jonathan McCurdy, who was himself the original technical lead for the project. “It’s a unique custom solution and this new upgrade modernizes the system with some state-of-the-art technology.”

GlobalSim’s recent project included a full upgrade to the BS-21 Training Management System (TMS). The TMS provides methods to score and rank recruits during the exercise. The system has been upgraded to provide the latest hardware and software to ensure that the US Navy can continue to operate and support this key training system. New handheld devices with an updated software interface and improved battery performance were successfully implemented.
