The Ship Pedestal crane simulates various equipment crane models and provides training for loading and unloading containers and other cargo from a Large-Medium-Speed-Roll-on-Roll of (LMSR) cargo ship.

The Ship Pedestal crane is used to deploy and recover the Side Port Ramp on an LMSR cargo ship. The Ship Pedestal simulator includes both single and dual cranes. The single crane configuration is simulated for a docked LMSR. The dual crane Side Port Ramp deployment and recover simulation is provided for both docked and in-stream vessel configuration.

Ship Pedestal Crane Simulator Model Details:
  • -Based on Hägglund Model G Crane configuration
    -Full crane dynamic, collision, and visual models based on the following characteristics:
    -Operate fore or aft pedestal
    -Simulate student in either left or right crane
    -Single or twin crane booms
    -Dynamics to simulate ship movement up to “sea state 3”
    -Anti-collision system to prevent booms from colliding
    -Instructor controlled hand signals to facilitate “blind” operations
    -Maximum working radius 26 meters
  • -Minimum working radius 3.7 meters
    -Maximum load twin lift 48 tons, single lift 16 tons
    -Separate hardware control modules
    -Container spreader or hook configuration
    -Container operations using a fully articulated spreader with functioning flippers
    -General cargo operations using the hook configuration
    -Load/unload operations on deck, below deck, and on dock
    -Multiple load types
